Description
1. Greet and direct Hospital visitors, patients and vendors to appropriate areas and locations. Provide wheelchair transportation to the physically challenged. 2. Act as a liaison between physicians and the family members or significant others of patients undergoing outpatient procedures. 3. Obtain a daily schedule of patients undergoing surgical or diagnostic procedures. 4. Interface with patients and visitors and provide emotional support as needed. Direct the customer to the appropriate department/supervisor for resolution of issues or complaints. 5. Respond to all inquiries from medical staff, hospital personnel and visitors on patient location within the hospital. 6. Direct appropriate delivery of flowers and gifts, maintaining an accurate log of such deliveries. 7. Precept new employees and volunteers. Act as a resource to the volunteer staff. 8. Provide information regarding area lodging and transport to customers. 9. Communicate between departments in order to provide accurate information. 10. Maintain confidentiality of patient information. 11. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers. 12. Perform other work-related duties as assigned or requested by their Supervisor. • Ability to read, write and communicate in English. • Basic computer skills. • Two years’ experience as a receptionist or related field dealing with the public, such as a Unit Secretary or Liaison. • Excellent communication skills including phone etiquette. • Demonstrated ability to relate to others with sensitivity and warmth and to deal with difficult interactions in a friendly and professional manner including use of good judgment concerning sensitive issues. • Ability to set priorities, coordinate and delegate as necessary. • Working knowledge of basic Medical Terminology preferred.
