Description Job Title: Information Engineer Company: Trimitron Corporation Location: On-site in Norfolk, VA Position Type: Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) Position Overview: Trimitron Corp is seeking a highly skilled Information Engineer to support the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific’s Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Division. This role applies enterprise-wide engineering disciplines to design, analyze, and optimize information systems that directly support PNT mission objectives. The Information Engineer will lead strategic systems planning, develop analytical methodologies, and support data and process modeling efforts that enhance the performance, reliability, and modernization of PNT systems. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, experience with enterprise information architectures, and the ability to guide teams through complex engineering and planning activities. Key Responsibilities: Apply enterprise-wide disciplines for planning, analysis, design, and construction of information systems across major sectors of the organization Develop analytical and computational techniques to solve complex information system challenges. Conduct enterprise-wide strategic systems planning, business information planning, and business analysis to support PNT mission needs. Perform process and data modeling using manual and automated tools, including Integrated Computer-Aided Software Engineering (I-CASE) tools. Support the development of system architectures, data flows, and information structures that align with NIWC Pacific PNT requirements. Apply reverse engineering and re-engineering methodologies to analyze legacy systems and develop migration strategies. Create strategic planning documents that guide modernization, system integration, and long-term PNT capability development. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve data integrity, and enhance system performance. Provide technical guidance in software engineering techniques, modeling tools, and automated support technologies. Offer expert recommendations to PNT engineers, program managers, and leadership on information system improvements. Provide daily supervision, mentorship, and direction to junior engineering staff or support personnel. Ensure all engineering activities comply with Navy, NIWC, and DoD standards, including cybersecurity and data governance requirements. Support PNT program planning, system development, and data architecture efforts by ensuring information systems are optimized for mission-critical performance. Collaborate with PNT stakeholders to align system designs with operational, technical, and security requirements. Participate in PNT program reviews, technical discussions, and engineering working groups. Contribute to the development of PNT system documentation, models, and engineering artifacts. Required Qualifications: Three (3) to six (6) years of directly applicable experience in information engineering, systems analysis, or enterprise architecture. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field. An advanced degree may substitute for two years of experience. Experience with process modeling, data modeling, and enterprise information planning. Familiarity with I-CASE tools or similar modeling and engineering software. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to supervise and guide technical staff. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting DoD, Navy, or NIWC programs, especially in engineering or mission-critical environments. Knowledge of PNT systems, Navy information architectures, or defense enterprise systems. Experience with system modernization, migration planning, or reverse engineering.
