The California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) is seeking a Communications and Marketing Manager. In this role, you will perform complex assignments involving the evaluation, planning and implementation of CSAC’s communications strategy and coordinating cross-departmentally through the workload of the Communications and Marketing Team.

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to computer screens and other basic office equipment.
  • Work in a climate-controlled office environment, open office space with artificial lighting.
  • Attend meetings in designated conference rooms and be willing to travel to off-site locations.
  • Overnight travel may be required; with reimbursement that considers the employee’s designated Headquarters location, primary residence, CalHR regulations, or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions.
  • Public speaking is required.
  • Current residency in the State of California is required. This position’s location is designated in Rancho Cordova, California and may be eligible for hybrid teleworking. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on CSAC’s current telework policy. While CSAC supports telework, regular in-person attendance will be required at CSAC’s Rancho Cordova location based on operational needs. Teleworking from outside the State of California is strictly prohibited.

Department Information
The California Student Aid Commission (CSAC), is the principal state agency responsible for administering financial aid programs for students attending public and private universities, colleges, and vocational schools in California. Our mission is to promote education equity by making postsecondary education affordable for all Californians. The Policy and Public Affairs Division is directly responsible for coordinating and deploying accurate financial aid opportunities to students, families, policymakers, media, and other key stakeholders. This team is responsible for the CSAC’s outreach and marketing programs that promote financial aid and opportunities to receive assistance in applying for it, including the California Student Opportunity and Access Program (Cal-SOAP) and Cash for College workshops. The division also works with policymakers to craft legislation and budgetary actions to make financial aid more accessible and impactful for students, while also seeking to ensure that these issues are widely understood by media and external partners through strategic communications and engagement. The Policy and Public Affairs Division is a dynamic team focused on helping students with the support that is available now and developing solutions to better serve them in the future.
