JOB DESCRIPTION

Seeking a part-time (24 hours per week) Information Review and Release Analyst (Subject Matter Expert) in the Herndon, VA area in support of a dynamic Intelligence Community office offering a flexible work schedule. The position requires an individual to review and thoroughly research the substance and overall context of select documents and make the appropriate redactions-electronically and/or manually- based on the criteria of Executive Order (EO) 13526, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act (PA). The candidate must be able to successfully apply critical-thinking skills when evaluating each case, and when utilizing the broad array of customer systems and tools in order to accurately inform the review and release process.
The individual will provide the rationale for redactions using legally defined exemption codes; provide recommendations for release of the documents; and record decisions in the appropriate system. Research of previous release decisions is required to ensure accuracy and consistency in our recommendations. Analysts in this role identify Other Government Agency (OGA) equities involved in the case and ensure that they are prepared for referral or coordination.

Required Education:

  • A bachelor degree and/or high school diploma and relevant years of experience specific to the skills listed
  • Candidate resumes must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position mentioned above and with the Sponsor.

The candidate must be able to successfully apply critical-thinking skills when evaluating each unique case, and when utilize a broad array of customer systems and tools in order to accurately inform the review and release process. Due to the complexity of most requests, time management and the ability to collaborate with other team members is a must. The selected candidate must be able to consistently deliver high-quality, accurate work, and be willing to perform ad hoc duties as needed. Candidates are able to explore their creative side for identifying process improvement ideas.

Typical Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviews & redacts certain equities within classified documents, records and files in accordance with established standard operating procedures, work flows and policies.
  • Submits requests to the scanning team to scan any documents needed for research
  • Submits requests to the search team to conduct the initial of search for data relevant to the case
  • Assists with the training of newly hired search team members, as requested
  • Collaborates with supervisory client POCs to recommend and implement changes that improves processes, workflows and standard operating procedures
  • Works an eight-hour shift between 6:00AM -6:00PM, Monday-Friday.

  • Infrequently provides surge support outside of normal office hours for short-fused emergent requests

REQUIRED SKILLS

TS/SCI with Polygraph Required Day 1

  • It is desired that the individual possesses a minimum of 16 years of experience reviewing & redacting classified information for the Sponsor or Intelligence Community (IC) in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Privacy Act (PA), and Executive Order Mandatory Declassification Review (EOMDR) programs and Executive Order (EO) 13526 directive

  • We will also consider candidates with 16 or more years of experience in a position requiring analytic skills (such as intelligence analysts, foreign disclosure officers, CD/CI/CT analysts, etc.) AND a demonstrated familiarity with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Privacy Act (PA), and Executive Order Mandatory Declassification Review (EOMDR) programs and Executive Order (EO) 13526 directive

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any liberal arts, scientific or technical discipline will be considered equivalent to three (3) years of relevant experience
  • A Master’s degree is equivalent to an additional year of experience

It is desired that the individual possess a minimum of five (5) years of Sponsor or Intelligence Community (IC) experience with Executive Order (EO) 13526 (or EO 12958 as amended); and five (5) years of experience with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) or Privacy Act (PA).
