YORKTOWN - VIRGINIA

1st Advantage Federal Credit Union is currently seeking a full time Information Security Officer to support our Risk Management Department. Scheduled hours will be 40 hours per week between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Information Security Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive information security program to include policies, procedures, and controls to protect member data, compliance with regulations, and identifying and mitigating cyber and physical risks. This role will perform and maintain risk assessments, train security awareness, and work closely with the Technology Department. Acts as the liaison for external audit firms and federal regulators.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Five years of similar or related experience.
Education A bachelor’s degree. Industry certification required.
Interpersonal Skills Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation. Discussions will involve a high degree of confidentiality.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Talking - Effective verbal communication to convey and acknowledge receiving detailed or important instructions, accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Average Hearing - Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information to communicate effectively.
Finger Dexterity - Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects or pinching fingers together to use office equipment such as phones, computers, scanners, and other office machinery.
Repetitive Motion - Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain the information security program aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable data privacy laws and regulations
  • Perform comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities within the credit union’s systems and operations. Analyze risk assessments and prioritize mitigation strategies to address identified vulnerabilities.
  • Ongoing colleague and volunteer training, informs the Information Security Committee of current information security risk environment on a continuous basis, and provides guidance for risk mitigation against potential threats.
  • Investigate security incidents, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
  • Plans and executes security projects for the organization, including ongoing cyber awareness training campaigns, regular physical security checks, and ongoing activity log reviews.
  • Works closely with the Information Technology Department colleagues. Leads and schedules Information Security Committee meetings.
