INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST:

On behalf of our Higher Education client, Procom is searching for an Information Security Specialist for a 4 month contract role. This position is a hybrid position with 2 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office.

INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST - JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Information Security Specialist will develop and manage the Information Security and Risk Management Program, focusing on incident management, forensic audits, and investigations. This role is pivotal in protecting digital assets and ensuring compliance with security guidelines while working closely with various university departments and external entities.

INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST - MANDATORY SKILLS:

• Minimum 7 years of related IT experience
• Strong understanding of IT Architecture and security methodologies
• Experience with intrusion detection and prevention
• Proficient in scripting languages such as Shell and Python
• Experience auditing systems for compliance
• Strong project management and team collaboration skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST – NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:

• IT Security certifications
• Experience with high-performance computing systems
• Knowledge of process development and integration
• Experience with virtualized environments
• Training in project management

• Develop and manage the Information Security and Risk Management Program
• Handle incident management response and investigations
• Conduct forensic IT audits and support external audits
• Secure university information and digital assets
• Manage project objectives, timelines, and resources
• Monitor and report on server-related security incidents
• Integrate security systems with network and desktop architecture
• Serve on committees and provide expertise on cybersecurity matters
