WAGE: $15.76 - $19.30 per hour, depending on experience Requirements ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Works a minimum of 20 hours per week and no more than 29 hours per week. Ability to arrive at locations throughout Mesa County to successfully fulfill job expectations. Locations include, but are not limited to, library branches and external locations for outreach, programs, and classes Service to Library Customers: Provides a variety of services to patrons in person, over the phone and through email; including reference and readers’ advisory assistance as well as instruction on the use of the library catalog, online databases, print and copy machines and other library resources. Facilitates access to library meeting rooms, programs and more. Responds to routine patron inquiries concerning library procedures and policies. Assists in ensuring a welcoming well-maintained collection by creating displays and merchandising items, suggesting titles for purchase and conducting regular weeding processes. Builds and maintains subject LibGuides as needed. Works with staff throughout the library district to improve and provide outstanding library service to all patrons. Instruction / Programming / Outreach Provide tech help and instruction to library patrons and staff. May assist with staff training on topics such as reference skills, online databases, web resources, and computer training. Communicates consistently and in a timely manner verbally and through email. Maintains a working knowledge and basic understanding of all MCL services, programs and events. Promotes and may develop library services and reference resources. Assists with library programs, outreach and special events. Works with others to complete assignments. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: · Communicates clearly in-person and via email and other electronic tools consistently and in a timely manner. Works with others to complete assignments. · Performs additional duties as opportunities arise that assist the department and the library in achieving specified goals and objectives. · Stays informed on developments of Mesa County Libraries services and trends: o Attends monthly staff meetings and training; attends external training as requested, stays aware of changes via email and staff wiki. May participate in and contribute to library committees and activities. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: · Ability to remain standing or bending for extended periods of time. · Ability to maneuver about the library in a timely fashion. · Ability to bend to floor level or reach a height of 75 inches. · Ability to read a minimum print size equal to 10-point. · Ability to tolerate dust, mold, etc. that may have accumulated on books. · Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Subject to many interruptions, performs duties within limited space at a desk. MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Education or training associated with the completion of a two-year degree in college, vocational or technical school courses of study related to the area of assignment, or two (2) years' previous library experience or retail customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
