The Lifesaving Society Ontario is a full-service provider of programs, products and services designed to prevent drowning. We save lives and prevent water-related injury through our training programs, Water Smart® public education, drowning prevention research, aquatic safety management and lifesaving sport. The Lifesaving Society Ontario is seeking a logic-minded, “people-person” who has a working knowledge of relational database functions, likes working with numbers, reconciling accounts and helping other users.
Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Information Services Officer, the Information Services Member Data Specialist will:

  • Serves as the resident expert in the UI of our custom membership platform, providing technical support, assistance, and training to users
  • Administers mass emails and mailing lists using SQL and marketing/distribution platforms
  • Manages and reconciles customer award inventory and explains reconciliations to customers
  • Generates pre-packaged reports and writes custom queries, verifying and analyzing results with speed and accuracy, and formats results
  • Provides user support (staff) and quality control for the electronic filing system
  • Provides user support (customers) for the Lifesaving Society’s web sites and online services
  • Runs recurring procedures and audits in the membership software to maintain database integrity
  • Assists in the administration of various online platforms and software used by the society (including Canada Helps, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Participates in user testing of custom software development
  • Creates documentation and user guides
  • Researches, evaluates, recommends, organizes, and maintains records
  • Responds to internal and external inquiries (in-person, by e-mail, and by phone)

Qualifications:

The following knowledge, skills and experience will enable the selected applicant to successfully perform the major functions of the role:

  • Diploma or degree in computer technology, business administration, or relevant field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in technology and supporting users
  • Experience with relational databases and database tables and basic understanding of SQL
  • Working knowledge of PIPEDA and CASL
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience working with numbers, performing calculations and reconciliations, and explaining results to customers
  • Experience using mailing list software (e.g., Mailchimp)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills in English; French is an asset
  • Strong understanding of Windows domain environments, NTFS filesystems, and Microsoft 365
  • Involvement with the Lifesaving Society as an award holder, volunteer, or affiliate contact is an asset
  • Preference for in-person work in a collaborative team environment
  • At ease with a job that requires a variety of skills and initiative to solve problems independently
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and meeting deadlines
  • Detail oriented, accurate, analytical, and a team player
  • Eligible to work in Canada
