Spanish Fork City has an exciting opportunity for an established leader in information systems. We are seeking a new Information Systems Director for our Spanish Fork Community Network (SFCN) team.
SFCN is one of the nation’s longest-running municipally owned broadband providers, delivering high-quality internet, television, and VOIP services for over two decades. As a department of Spanish Fork City, SFCN offers the rare combination of public-sector stability and leading-edge technology deployment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive IT/telecom experience, preferably with municipal or utility experience
  • Preferred certifications: CISSP, CCNP, PMP, ITIL, or equivalent
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise IT systems, networking, cybersecurity, and cloud services
  • Proven leadership, project management, and interpersonal skills

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must reside within 30 minutes of Spanish Fork City limits
  • Available for on-call rotation for critical issues
    Work Environment: Primarily office-based with occasional field work. Interaction with staff, vendors, and municipal partners in high-pressure or time-sensitive situations.

Responsibilities

Strategic LeadershipGovernance

  • Set department goals, strategies, and metrics aligned with City priorities.
  • Lead digital transformation and oversee cybersecurity compliance (e.g., CJIS, NIST, HIPAA).
  • Identify and integrate emerging technologies to improve services and efficiency.
  • Align IT processes with municipal best practices to enhance performance and user experience.

NetworkTelecommunications Oversight (SFCN)

  • Direct SFCN’s internet, TV, and VOIP operations, including fiber network expansion and headend design.
  • Ensure reliability, security, and scalability of telecommunications systems.
  • Oversee engineering, technical support, and City-run cable channel operations.
  • Manage vendor relationships and equipment lifecycle.

City Technology Oversight (IT)

  • Manage enterprise IT systems, networks, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Lead implementation of new technologies, upgrades, and system integrations.
  • Coordinate IT procurement, vendor management, and project execution.

TeamOrganizational Leadership

  • Hire, develop, and lead a high-performing team of IT and telecom professionals.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance oversight.
  • Promote collaboration, customer service excellence, and innovation.
  • Ensure clear communication within the team and across departments.

OperationsAdministration

  • Develop and manage budgets; forecast staffing and technology needs.
  • Provide strategic reports and recommendations to City leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with municipal policies, and coordinate disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
