SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, uses specialized knowledge or skills to perform hardware support and repairs for user departments across the facility. Resolve hardware, software, and communication problems/conflicts/defects. May interact with customers, recommend vendors, and control supplies and/or parts.

2. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One or more years’ experience in IS/IT is preferred but not required, preferably in a hospital setting. Familiarity with medical equipment and/or medical computer hardware/software/networks is highly preferred. Training is provided to orient the experienced person to THA’s specific information system.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language to communicate effectively and tactfully with staff, vendors, and the public.

3. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and ambulate effectively.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Must demonstrate adequate dexterity to work in unique positions and in limited space for extended periods of time.
  • Must demonstrate specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

4. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED with 3 to 5 years’ experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Have the ability to obtain Specified Manufacturer Equipment Repair Certification.

5. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to perform advanced complex repairs and upgrades on a wide variety of computers and peripherals.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of computer systems software, applications, hardware, and communications.
  • Ability to simultaneously coordinate and complete multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of advanced computer troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to diagnose the nature and extent of a wide range of computer problems.
  • Ability to install and configure computer systems, hardware, and peripherals.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Records maintenance skills.

Responsibilities
  • Investigates, analyzes, and resolves hardware and associated software and communications problems on facility computer systems; performs complex hardware repairs and maintenance on a wide range of pc-based computers and peripherals.
  • Provides advanced hardware technical assistance and support; troubleshoots and resolves system hardware, software, and communications failures and conflicts.
  • Installs, integrates, and configures new computer systems and hardware for users.
  • Trains employees, as appropriate and as directed by the Director of MIS.
  • Maintains a high-level quality of customer service standards in dealing with and responding to questions.
  • Assist Director of MIS, as needed and as directed by the Director in various aspects of the MIS department’s administrative function. This includes, but is not limited to, communicating with vendors, THA departments, managers, and medical staff; completing routine reports; gathering relevant information and maintaining accurate records.
  • Take after hours call on a regular, scheduled, basis.
  • Respond to disaster call, day, or night.
  • Report all problems or concerns through the proper chain of management. Keep Director of MIS informed regarding all matters of concern to the department.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Director of MIS or Division Director of Fiscal Services to ascertain the mission of THA.
