Description

Under general direction of the Branch Chief, Enterprise Operation Services within the Application Development & Support Division, the incumbent serves as the Section Chief of the Mobile/Web Applications and Web Support Section. This section comprises information technology (IT) professionals in various classifications who are responsible to maintain and support the Caltrans custom web and mobile application portfolio. The incumbent holds full management responsibilities for the implementation, maintenance, and support of activities related to the analysis, design, development, testing and deployment of Mobile/Web applications. The incumbent also oversees the departments external and internal web presence and the state procurement process to procure IT services and goods and maintain contracts. Additionally, the incumbent directly manages all aspects of the project life cycle and works with matrix IT functions to oversee all System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases of a project. The incumbent has full management responsibility for organizing, planning, coordinating, directing and controlling all activities associated with the day to-day operations of the Mobile/Web Applications and Web Support Section. The incumbent also provides leadership for the section.

Working Conditions
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
