A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) certifications are strongly recommended. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to travel between school sites. Successful experience in IT support roles, especially in educational environments, is preferred. Strong communication skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently are essential.

DESCRIPTION

The Information Technology Specialist is responsible for maintaining the school division’s technology infrastructure, including the installation, repair, and upkeep of computer systems, software, and peripheral devices. The position ensures technology systems are operational to support both instructional and administrative functions. The specialist also provides training and support to staff and administrators and assists with student intern development and device repair coordination.

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot classroom technology and computer hardware/software systems
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on devices including computers, Chromebooks, and accessories
  • Provide onsite technical support to end users across the division
  • Offer training and mentorship to administrators, staff, and student interns on device and software use
  • Maintain and support computer labs and classroom technology in optimal working condition
  • Track and resolve all IT service tickets through the division’s ticketing system
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current educational technology and trends
  • Assist in inventory management and recordkeeping for technology devices and repairs
  • Assist with overseeing Dell Tech Direct certifications and mentor students in the intern program
  • Perform quality control checks on technology systems and equipment
  • Respond to technology emergencies as needed
  • Perform other IT-related duties as assigned
