Under direction of Information Technology Supervisor II (IT SUP II), the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) acts as an application architecture and senior developer to develop complex solutions with wide range of tools and technologies and works both independently and cooperatively with other Information Technology (IT) staff performing high level technical work around analysis, design, planning and implementation using a holistic approach for the successful development and execution of strategy.
The ITS I provides knowledge of the Department’s data processing environments and standards while performing the duties of application architect including developing conceptual designs, data models and resource estimates; defining project work activities, timeliness and system constraints; and design and development of the most complex systems and interface configurations.
The ITS I develops sophisticated system capabilities, design and implement cloud based solutions, develops required interfaces between internal and external systems; client and vendor interaction to obtain information used to customize and develop the most complex software to achieve the desired results as well as the expertise in the development tools and languages required to develop and maintain complex applications, resolves complex technical problems with application and/or infrastructure including but not limited to system performance issues, and the ability to write complex scripts and procedures, analyzes data and situations, reasons logically, identifies problems, draws valid conclusions, and develops effective solutions.

Working Conditions
This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.
This position is eligible for telework up to 5 days a week and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
