Under general direction of the Enterprise Network Manager, an Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist II demonstrates leadership and expertise and performs a wide variety of tasks in support of Department of State Hospitals requiring regular innovative problem-solving within broadly stated and non-specific guidelines, including multiple program areas, and involving planning, developing, and implementing technological solutions that are essential to the mission of DSH
The primary duties of the IT Specialist II lie within the Information Network Engineering, IT Project Management, and Systems Engineering domains of the IT Specialist II classification. This includes, security aspects of the initiation, design, development, testing, operation and defense of IT data and environments to address sources of disruption; and/or management or oversight of all phases of the project management and system development life cycles to ensure efficient delivery of a unique IT product, services or system; and/or architecture, design, configuration, operation and maintenance of systems discovery and planning, designing, configuring, administering an sustaining the operation of a defined system including network, server, storage, operating systems, database, program, hardware and software.

Working Conditions

  • A hybrid Telework schedule, consistent with the State of California’s in-office requirement, may be considered with prior approval from management. The incumbent may also be required to travel throughout California as needed, with prior notice.

DEPARTMENT OF STATE HOSPITALS

The mission of the Department of State Hospitals (DSH) is to provide evaluation and treatment in a safe and responsible manner, seeking innovation and excellence in hospital operations, across a continuum of care and settings.
This is a Sacramento-based position that may work a hybrid telework schedule, consistent with the State of California’s in-office requirement based out of any one of our six locations located throughout California. Incumbent will have minimal travel requirements but will be asked to travel to any of DSH’s six locations when operational need arises and with prior notice.
