The Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) Application Development Services Section(ADSS) is seeking a conscientious professional with a proven record as a Systems Development Unit Supervisor with broad experience in IT application/systems development and support, systems development software engineering management, building collaborative relationships and fostering an inclusive environment for consensus-building and decision-making, promoting loyalty to the Department’s mission, guiding continuous improvement for better results, and possessing strong communications skills and approaches.
Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I within the Application Development Services Section (ADSS), the Information Technology Supervisor II (IT Supervisor II) provides supervision and leadership to a group of IT software engineers assigned to develop and maintain systems, applications, and related databases for the Department’s business customers statewide. The incumbent will have leadership and decision-making authority on the more complex systems implementations as well as developing and implementing standards and guidelines that affect ongoing IT processes within the Department and throughout the State. The incumbent will primarily be working in the Software Engineering and System Engineering domains.

Working Conditions
The duties of this position are primarily conducted indoors in an office environment. The incumbent will have a workstation with modular furniture, an adjustable rolling chair, a computer with various software programs, a telephone or cellular phone with voicemail, and stationary filing drawers and bins. The position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time and operate a personal computer utilizing a mouse and keyboard.
The incumbent must be able to give presentations, participate in meetings, and interact with other staff. They must also be able to: push buttons on a keyboard, calculator, photocopy machine, facsimile machine, and telephone; grasp papers, small objects, and manuals; access upper and lower files and cabinets; and exert up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently in order to move or position objects.
Travel to various CDFA facilities and sites throughout the state as needed using various means of transportation systems; overnight stays and weekend and off-shift work may be required.
Regular or recurring telework may occur as part of the incumbent’s ongoing regular schedule in accordance with CDFAs Telework Policy.
The position exists in downtown Sacramento. CDFA’s Headquarters office is located at 1220 N Street, Sacramento, California.
