Description Summary Under general supervision from the IT Manager, the IT Tech I maintains, monitors and repairs the IT equipment to include systems and all peripheral hardware, data communications and software in a responsive and professional manner. Installs and maintains PC software and hardware throughout the credit union and provides technical support to users as needed. Essential Functions Monitor network communications to ensure that network is available to system users and resolve network interruptions or escalate. Maintain various computer and hardware related to the communications network. Ensures that routine preventative maintenance is performed according to the established schedule. Load software and install and maintain personal computers throughout the credit union. Assist with cabling needs as assigned. Maintain supplies and an accurate inventory of all equipment, hardware and software related to the network and personal computers. Initiate the purchase of additional supplies when established reorder points are reached. Maintain mobile devices and related protection software in cloud environments. Maintain regular reporting of all endpoint client devices and their status. Assign equipment and recover equipment to end users as directed. Process work orders and change of status as they are submitted. Provide helpdesk and client-side hardware and software support. Work with third party vendors to install or resolve problems with software, hardware, and communication line problems for personal computers and networks. Remains up to date on technological changes in equipment, devices, and repair/resolution techniques. Support Engineers in their duties when requested. Travel to branches to replace failed hardware or install new equipment. All other duties as assigned. Functions and responsibilities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice. Requirements Required Skills and Abilities Ability to speak, write, and present in an effective manner. Ability to work well under pressure with multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to organize workload and job functions. Ability to work well with others creating a good working environment. Ability to respond to problems and challenges in non-scheduled hours of operation, including the need to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to adapt to changes in technology. Ability to travel to branches and other areas when needed. Ability to adhere to a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends. This includes being in an on-call rotation. Education and Experience Associate’s degree in computer science preferred. Comp TIA A+, Network+ or Security+ Certification preferred. Excellent understanding of networking concepts, cabling, device, and storage technologies. Experience in network security preferred. Experience working with and troubleshooting Microsoft products. Experience troubleshooting PC’s, laptops, and peripherals. Experience working with voice and data communications. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials weighing 50 pounds or less. Continuous sitting or alternating sitting and standing during shift. Equipment installations may require bending and crouching to install under desks. Work may be in areas with moderate computer system noise. Travel to other branch locations is required.
