Description
We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Infrastructure Engineer to join our global infrastructure team. This Level 2/3 role is responsible for advanced system support, escalation handling, platform optimization, and infrastructure reliability across Windows, Linux, virtualization, storage, container platforms, and cloud services. Responsibilities: Provide Tier 2/3 support for incidents and requests involving Windows Server, Linux systems, virtualized environments, container platforms, and cloud-hosted infrastructure. Lead troubleshooting efforts for critical issues across platforms, performing root cause analysis and long-term remediation planning. Act as an escalation point for support analysts and administrators; mentor junior staff as needed. Administer enterprise Windows Server environments including IIS, Microsoft Clustering, and file services. Support and maintain Red Hat and other Linux distributions; troubleshoot OS-level issues; escalate to Linux Engineers if necessary. Manage SMB/NAS storage access, permissions, and capacity planning in coordination with the architecture team. Perform performance tuning and analyze system metrics to improve infrastructure efficiency. Support and perform advanced tasks in VMware vSphere, Red Hat OpenShift, and Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM), including VM provisioning, host maintenance, performance diagnostics, and high availability configurations. Assist with lifecycle management of virtualization platforms, including template management, resource allocation, and capacity planning. Coordinate with the architecture team on host patching, clustering, and resource optimization across all hypervisor platforms. Provide operational support for Microsoft Azure cloud services including virtual machines, storage, networking, backup, and identity-integrated services (e.g., Azure VM, Azure Storage, Azure Backup, Azure Load Balancer, Azure Files). Support workloads in other cloud environments such as AWS or OCI where applicable. Participate in infrastructure-as-a-service operations and help manage hybrid workloads between on-prem platforms (VMware, OLVM) and cloud platforms (primarily Azure). Assist with cost optimization, tagging, and governance practices for Azure resources in collaboration with cloud architecture and governance teams. Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or Python to streamline operations, deployments, and system monitoring. Contribute to automation toolsets such as Ansible, Git, or CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with infrastructure and platform architecture teams. Participate in automation efforts related to Azure and OpenShift operations, including standardized deployments and configuration management. Ensure system compliance with internal security policies, audit controls, and patching standards. Support vulnerability remediation efforts across supported platforms. Maintain up-to-date documentation of systems, runbooks, technical procedures, and operational standards. Work cross-functionally with infrastructure, cloud, network, and application teams to ensure platform reliability and successful project outcomes. Support infrastructure changes and upgrades, including planning, testing, and execution. Provide technical input during design and implementation phases for infrastructure-related initiatives. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. 5 to 10 years of experience in enterprise system administration or engineering roles. Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks. Advanced knowledge of Windows Server. Strong working knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux or similar distributions. Hands-on experience managing and troubleshooting VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM). Experience supporting or integrating Red Hat OpenShift or other Kubernetes-based container platforms in an enterprise environment. Experience with SAN/NAS storage systems (e.g., Pure, VAST) and SMB/CIFS share permissions. Operational experience in Microsoft Azure; exposure to other cloud environments such as AWS or OCI is a plus. Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and system security principles. Proficiency with scripting tools like PowerShell and Bash; Python experience is a plus. Exposure to DevOps tools, automation pipelines, or infrastructure-as-code frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions). Experience using enterprise monitoring, patch management, and ITSM/ticketing tools. Experience working in ITIL-aligned environments. Certifications such as MCSA/MCSE, RHCSA/RHCE, VMware VCP, or Azure Administrator Associate.
