Job Description We are seeking a specialist Infrastructure Migration Engineer to support the Physical to Virtual (P2V) migration of legacy Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 & 6 servers as part of a wider remediation initiative. This engagement is critical due to internal resource constraints and compatibility limitations with Red Hat 6, requiring expert intervention to ensure a secure and effective transition to supported platforms. Location: Preston On site Contract Type: 3 Months Start Date: Immediate Sector: IT Infrastructure / Server Migration Rate: Competitive, based on experience (Outside IR35) UK Right to work : - Must have full UK RTW and 5 year address history in UK to facitate immediate start and pass all background checks required 🛠️ Scope of Work Assess and validate viable P2V strategies for RHEL6 servers Attempt migration of two RHEL6 servers to Hyper-V Confirm boot success, driver compatibility, and system integrity post-migration Document a repeatable P2V process and tooling (e.g. Disk2VHD, Clonezilla) Deliver remaining server migrations using the approved method Collaborate with internal teams to support access control and data migration Assist with post-migration testing and acceptance Install standard security tooling on all migrated and rebuilt VMs: Additional Information Competitive compensation, tailored to your interests, priorities, flexibility, work-life balance, expertise, experience, and ambitions.

Responsibilities

The Infrastructure Migration Engineer will support the Physical to Virtual migration of legacy Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers. This includes assessing P2V strategies, executing migrations, and ensuring system integrity post-migration.
