Description A Day in the Life Socket is seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Planning – 811 Specialist to design and develop maps and tailored Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications. This role will involve working with multiple teams and 811 to ensure installations are being delivered in the promised timeline. What You’ll Do Key responsibilities include: Serve as the primary liaison between the company and the third-party vendor responsible for reviewing and scrubbing 811 locate tickets. Assist in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues related to locating tickets to ensure timely and accurate processing. Maintain and update facility maps to support accurate locating and operational planning. Ensure all 811 processes and requirements are properly implemented and followed. Review applicable tickets and make outgoing calls when facility locates are required to ensure proper coordination and communication. Conduct research on easements to assess potential locations for fiber installation by Socket Design and develop maps using Socket’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools Review and develop instructions to implement existing designs to our contractors Review new sales quote request to evaluate feasibility and ensure alignment with company capabilities Fielding calls from installers to assess any issues and provide solutions What We’re Looking For To be considered for this role, you'll need the following required qualifications: Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail when maintaining and entering data into the GIS database The ability to interpret technical reports and drawings, converting them into accurate map layers Ability to adapt Socket’s products into a service that addresses the customer’s needs Possess strong written and verbal communication skills Proficient in presenting data in a clear and effective manner Familiarity with GIS systems is preferred but not required Must maintain a valid driver’s license and have good driving record What Will Help You Stand Out Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of the telecommunications industry Experience using GIS systems Experience with 811 Experience with Julie Previous telecom or fiber infrastructure experience Proven ability to communicate effectively with leadership and technical teams Familiarity with supporting integrations between internal and external systems Desired Attributes Beyond the qualifications, these attributes are what make someone a great fit for our team: Positive working attitude Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
