Position Description: Infrastructure Project Engineer

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Provide Civil Engineering Expertise and Coordinate Councils Infrastructure construction planning anddelivery program in accordance with Councils Delivery & Operations Plan.
  • Coordinate the preparation, release, review and assessment of civil infrastructure tendered projectsand requests for quotes in accordance with Council Policy and Procedures by Developing and maintaining a strong working interface with other portfolios across the organisation.
  • Review, amend and implement civil engineering designs relating to Councils civil infrastructureprogram in order to manage and oversee all aspects of project planning, development andimplementation for a range of projects delivered by the organisation.
  • Evaluate project budget during the entire project to ensure project is completed within the availablebudget. Capture and Record all project related expenditure and revenue in Council’s reportingdatabase.
  • Lead Council’s Construction Team in attending and resolving infrastructure related complaints raisedby the community.
  • Coordinate, Manage and liaise with contractors and/or consultants to ensure effective delivery ofprojects by establishing and maintaining stakeholder relationships through effective communication,negotiation and issues management to ensure project deliverables are met
  • Ensure projects comply with legislative requirements, specifically WHS, Risk, Quality Assurance, Traffic &Environmental Mangement in accordance with Councils Safety Management Plans, including review of TMPs, TCPs, TGS, CEMP and the like.
  • Monitor and evaluate all aspects of project implementation, including risk and contingency management, benefits realisation, project impact and quality measures, to identify and address issues, assess project progress and effectiveness, and achieve project outcomes.
  • Contribute to a safe workplace: comply with legislative and organisational requirements and be accountable for own decisions and actions.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications or undertaking a program of suitable qualifications development. (Equivalent to 4 years F/T).
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills to deal with the members of the public, Councillors, Executive and Council staff.
  • Typically 3 years’ experience in Local Government or an equivalent area of construction industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of a range of computer software programs in particular Microsoft Office Suite and/or other relevant programs, with the ability to maintain a high standard of project documentation for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Experience in reporting particularly in the areas of financial and risk management, corporate management and organisational reporting
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, review and implementation of OH&S, Quality Assurance and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation and management of minor infrastructure contracts and associated contractors.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, including the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders, including members of public, community residents etc.
  • Class C Drivers License.
  • SafeWork NSW White Card or willing to obtain one prior to joinin
