Description

Client is seeking candidates for the Systems Architect position to work full time, either on-site or remote (telework), at NIH (National Institutes of Health) facility in Bethesda, MD (Rockledge Drive Campus).
MAJOR PURPOSE OF THIS JOB: Candidate will develop technical standards and procedures for multiple RDBMS and other data management platforms; work with product development teams to ensure the established processes are properly and efficiently followed; participate in hands-on development activities assisting teams with product development. Candidate must be comfortable in interfacing with software developers, operations, and IT security SME; must have ability and desire to learn new platforms and technologies and apply knowledge effectively and to support the team mission to deliver high quality software products.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8+ years of Systems Engineer or Software Engineer experience focusing on automation and infrastructure-as-a-code solutions.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with infrastructure and software security/compliance tools (Tenable, TripWire, etc.) focusing on vulnerability management.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with automation tools (Ansible, SSM, BigFix, etc.) focusing on automation of infrastructure provisioning and security management.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting Federal security regulations and standards to ensure these are addressed in design and implementation of security controls/mechanisms.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of the Agile System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and environment.
  • Proven experience preparing and presenting technical documentation to various audiences.
  • Hands-on experience in supporting and enhancing large enterprise systems in a production environment.
  • Excellent problem solving and analysis skills with the ability to effectively troubleshoot and resolve or escalate problems.
  • Experience working within the National Institutes of Health a plus.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in a System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Engineering, or other related field
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and qualify for a Public Trust clearance.
    Job Type: Contract
    Pay: $75.00 - $80.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 40 per week

Responsibilities
  • The position has strong focus on application and infrastructure security.
  • Conduct review and analysis of infrastructure designs and security scans/reports/alerts.
  • Identify impacted systems, remediation strategy, and plan implementation.
  • Design and implement automated solutions for systems maintenance and security remediation.
  • Develop architecture, design, and SOP documentation 3rd party products and in-house software.
  • Support Development and Operations staff during design, implementation, support, and troubleshooting.
