(IBJI), Chicagolands premier orthopaedic medical practice with several Chicago and NW suburban locations has an opening for an Infusion (IV Therapy) Registered Nurse. Job Summary Under the direct supervision of the physician, the Infusion (IV Therapy) Registered Nurse role is responsible for safely performing a range of clinical duties and provides support to the physician in the practice. This role will specifically provide direct patient care to the patients of the Infusion Center (IV) Therapy Department and ensure overall safety, quality of care and the customer service experience provided to patients and physicians. This role will focus on the following infusion (IV therapy) related responsibilities: reconstitution of medications peripheral venipuncture phlebotomy assessment & monitoring of patients vitals signs during infusion therapy recognizing and responding to emergencies & medication reactions scheduling of patients education the patients regarding IV therapy General Responsibilities Participates and assists the physician in the provision of medical care, including: Taking the patient’s history Assessing the patient Assisting with examinations, treatments, injections, infusion therapy, etc. Preparing equipment and other medical devices, as needed Performs ancillary functions such as: Gathering and managing necessary documents (e.g. medical record, test results) Coordinating physician’s phone calls, as needed Modifying/coordinating schedule(s), as needed Facilitating/Completing paper work, as needed Acting as liaison between the physician and patient Assisting in the stocking of clinical supplies within the patient care areas Assuring proper operation of equipment and medical devices Following up as needed to obtain or repair equipment and medical devices Maintains cleanliness of the patient care areas Educates patients Assists in the education of patients in regards to their condition, physician orders, treatment plans, etc. Participates in the Safety Program through education and implementation of practices to facilitate a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Completes other duties and assignments as directed by the Physician and Practice Administrator. Requirements Job Requirements Must be licensed in Illinois as a Registered Nurse 5+ years experience in nursing, in a physician office setting preferred Must have excellent IV insertion/access skills Epic EMR experience preferred Communicates effectively verbally and in writing Must be physically able to assist patients during ambulation and examination **Must have 1 year of IV Therapy experience; Infusion certified! Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills and relevant experience.
