JOB SUMMARY:

In this role, you will be required to manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to the position and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience and CIP certification (Colegio de Ingenieros del Peru).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Knowledge of multiple technical engineering disciplines relating to the construction of heavy industrial projects.
• Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.
• Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility.
• Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” safety program.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
• Knowledge of current industry design standards.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Prior Project direct hire construction experience.

• On a medium to large job, performing the duties of a lead engineer in either an area, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines, or as a Project Field Engineer, coordinating all activities related to the operation of assigned operating section.
• Proactively engaging with their teams’ development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback.
• Leading construction engineers in a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline.
• Coordinating with design on constructability issues.
• Reviewing material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials.
• Possessing responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.
• Ensuring zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
• Possessing responsibility for coordinating between Construction and Startup to ensure the various system walkdowns are performed, interfacing with the Startup Specialist as required to support component/system turnover and assuming responsibility (as required) for area turnover coordination as determined by the PFE.
• Reviewing and approving inspection test plans.
• Coordinating reviews of subcontractor submittals.
