Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mechanical, aeronautical, materials, manufacturing or equivalent engineering degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with gas turbine engine development, or maintenance, repair, and overhaul of gas turbine engine components
  • Knowledge of system modelling such as engine performance model, fluid system model, rotor dynamics model
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency - Excel, Word, Power Point, etc…
  • Familiar with CAD software for design, e.g Solidworks
  • Strong analytical skills and teamwork skills
  • Member or eligible to become member of the “Ordre des Ingenieurs du Quebec”

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiar with gas turbine engine design process
  • Familiar with new engine technology development
  • Engine testing and test data processing experience
  • Familiar with finite element or finite volume simulation software, e.g ANSYS Mechanical or ANSYS Fluent
  • Familiar with system modelling software, e.g Amesim, Flomaster

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS IN QUEBEC:

Intermediate level knowledge of English is necessary for aeronautical personnel to meet regulatory requirements, understand technical procedures and instructions, and document entries regarding work performed on the aeronautical product for customers outside Quebec.

Responsibilities

The innovation engineer will:

  • Interact with various stakeholders and disciplines (e.g component repair engineering, propulsion engineering, finance, asset management, etc…) to establish statement of work for the proposed new designs
  • Analyze the physics of the engine system to generate boundary conditions for the analytical models
  • Perform mathematical calculations, finite element simulations, and failure mode effect analysis to evolve the design
  • Assess the new design performance with key success factors by testing, inspection or post-processing of numerical simulation results
  • Propose new solutions to improve the engine performance or shop floor efficiency
  • Create and maintain related documentation for internal and external approvals
  • Actively engage in technical discussions and conduct design reviews according to the design development process
