Summary: Responsible for providing support and care to meet the physical and psychological needs of consumers through providing direct and indirect care in a psychiatric inpatient unit. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provides supervision and monitoring of each consumer. Assist with and model appropriate daily living skills. Document any reported or observed symptoms of consumers and report to the team. Participate in Shift Report Provide transportation All other duties as assigned by supervisor Special Attributes: Strong interpersonal skills and belief in consumer’s ability to recover. Minimal supervision regarding use of time, able to prioritize work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively with professionals and clients/families. Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations. A desire to work with individuals with severe mental illness and substance abuse issues. Education and/or Experience: Para Professional services are delivered by staff who have the life experience of being diagnosed with a serious mental illness or substance addiction problem, and are currently in recovery, stable, and living without relapses. The Paraprofessional has a high school diploma, or GED and at least five years of life experience with a serious mental illness or substance addiction. Peer Support - Requires Peer Support Certification. AP - requires high school diploma and at least one year of appropriate experience. Or Bachelor’s degree in the field with no experience. QP- requires bachelor's degree in social work, Counseling or another Human Services field. Qualified Professional (QP) required. Qualifications
