QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN INSIDE MACHINIST

  • 3 years of machining experience (preferred)
  • General knowledge about ships and machinery
  • Ability to align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
  • Ability to read micrometers with low tolerance
  • Ability to run all inside shop equipment in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ability to prepare written mechanical evaluations
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints
  • Ability to pass a drug test
  • Have basic hand tools
    Shipyard experience is preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. Do you have a willingness to learn? Are you self-motivated and reliable? Can you work well independently? Responsibilities

As an Inside Machinist, you are responsible for the assembly, installation, modification, and repair of various ship machinery and systems. You set up, service, repair, align, and test machines that operate on a mechanical and electro-mechanical basis. Skilled with precision you utilize tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders to repair machine parts to manufacturer specifications. After evaluating procedures, you recommend changes related to the efficiency of setup and production.
