Maine Oxy is currently looking to hire an Inside Sales Representative in our South Portland, ME retail store. This is a hands-on position with great opportunities to advance and learn other areas of the industrial gas & welding industry.

The Inside/Counter Sales Representative’s responsibilities include:

  • Promote safety as Job #1
  • Provides customers with an additional level of product knowledge and technical expertise
  • Troubleshoots and responds to technical problems posed by customers and branch personnel
  • Assists in all phases of store operations
  • Completes paperwork accurately and in a timely manner according to company policies and procedures
  • Assumes the responsibilities of Store Manager position when Store Manager is absent
  • Serves as primary in house contact for major customer base served by the store
  • For selected accounts, offers special prices or discounts based on specific guidelines and in certain circumstances, negotiates payment form
  • Assists branch store sales staff in selling function and sales team in working up quotes
  • Responds to customer complaints by taking action to resolve the issue according to company policy
  • Serves as a support staff for outside sales
  • Labels stock, stocks shelves, assembles machinery, conducts demonstrations, and arranges displays to enhance marketability
  • Assists in maintaining clean and neat store appearance.
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in welding and/or gas application
  • Sales experience
  • Knowledge of our industry and specialty products
  • Ability to use hand-held computer (Zebra System)

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, speak and hear.
  • Frequent sitting and standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; may stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus on objects.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 25 to 75lbs.
