o Strong understanding of COSHH regulations and HSG258 guidelines.
o Demonstrable mechanical fitting and/or electrical maintenance skills relevant to LEV systems.
o Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.

o Full UK Driving License.

  • Desirable:

o Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar).
o Experience working with bag filter systems.
o Knowledge of fan types, their operation, and fault finding.
o Familiarity with permit-to-work systems.
o Confined Space entry qualification.
o Working at Height qualification.

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Proactive and safety-conscious mindset.
Responsibilities
  • LEV System Inspection & Testing:
o Conduct thorough statutory examinations and tests of LEV systems in accordance with HSG258 and COSHH regulations.
o Perform routine visual inspections, functional checks, and performance testing (e.g., airflow measurements, pressure readings).
o Identify defects, deficiencies, and areas for improvement in LEV system design and operation.

o Produce detailed reports on LEV system performance, including recommendations for remedial actions.

  • Maintenance & Repair:

o Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs to ensure optimal LEV system functionality.
o Proactively identify and address potential issues to minimise downtime and ensure continuous operation.

o Source and manage spare parts and consumables for LEV systems.

  • Compliance & Documentation:

o Ensure all LEV activities comply with relevant health and safety legislation, company policies, and industry best practices.
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all inspections, tests, maintenance activities, and repairs.

o Assist with internal and external audits related to LEV systems.

  • Safety & Environment:

o Work safely and promote a strong safety culture at all times, adhering to all site safety procedures and Lock Out Tag Out Try Out (LOTOTO) protocols.
o Identify and report any health, safety, or environmental hazards.

o Contribute to the continuous improvement of health and safety performance on site.

  • Collaboration & Communication:

o Liaise effectively with production teams, other engineering disciplines, and contractors to schedule work and minimise disruption.
o Provide expert advice on LEV matters to site management and employees.
