Job Closes: October 24th, 2025 GENERAL SUMMARY Performs inspection of new wastewater infrastructure to ensure standards are met. Collaborates with engineers and contractors on new and existing projects. Performs line locates. Maintains records of all work performed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. * Inspects new and existing sewer capital improvement projects and reviews plans submitted by engineers. Reviews plan drawings and inspects contractor work for conformance of contract documents. Recommends acceptance of completed subdivision projects or payment for such work completed during construction. * Coordinates with contractors and inspects connections between residential laterals and main lines. Collaborates with builders to inspect pipes damaged during the home building process. * Troubleshoots lines using CCTV. Locates collapsed or plugged lines within the collection system and on federal installations. * Responsible for coordinating or locating underground utilities such as gas, water, electric, and cable before any excavating. Coordinates with local engineering firms or developers in locating the nearest outfall lines. * Documents work performed. Gathers data for inventory reports on house-sewer connections or industrial connections for billing purposes. * Assists with street or lane closures as well as site evaluations for the safety of crewmembers, pedestrians, and motor vehicles during construction. * Inspects existing manholes to determine structural integrity for rehabilitation or adjustments. * Investigates and answers public complaints and inquiries related to construction projects. * Performs related work as required. SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS This position may directly supervise Inspector I-II. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Required Education and Experience * A High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency Required. * Persons with two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of sewage treatment plants and/or line maintenance, and one (1) year of progressively responsible experience in construction inspection; With a Class D Wastewater Operator License, and a valid Class “A” Commercial Driver License with tanker endorsement, may qualify for the position of Inspector I. * Persons with three (3) years progressively responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of sewage treatment plants and/or line maintenance, and two (2) years progressively responsible experience in construction inspection; With a Class C Wastewater Operator License, and a valid Class “A” Commercial Driver License with tanker endorsement, may qualify for the position of Inspector II. * Persons with four (4) years progressively responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of sewage treatment plants and/or line maintenance, and three (3) years progressively responsible experience in construction inspection; With a Class B Wastewater Operator License, valid Class “A” Commercial Driver License with tanker endorsement, may qualify for the position of Inspector III. *If selected, the level will be determined by the Manager based on an internal assessment of education and experience.* Required Licenses or Certifications ☒ Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
