CE&I Inspector - Lafayette Area, LA   Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is expanding our Construction Engineering & Inspection (CE&I) team!  We are actively seeking an Inspector to be a vital part of our growth. Join us in shaping the future of infrastructure in Louisiana as we uphold the highest standards in the industry.    Position Summary The inspector will monitor the work of contractors to ensure quality control and contract compliance/specifications for various construction projects of moderate to considerable complexity.   Responsibilities * Responsible for overseeing the monitoring, testing, and conformance of client/contractor work on various projects to ensure plans, specifications, materials, traffic & erosion control devices, quality assurance, and safety standards are met. * Ensure all materials, procedures, and safety rules comply with the latest LADOTD standards. * Run weekly construction meetings with the team and generate minutes. * Maintain project files and shop drawings. * Generate daily reports and project photographs. * Document and immediately report any non-compliance actions and safety violations to your immediate supervisor. * Maintaining positive relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and business partners * Record daily construction inspection notes for CEI document management. * Expert documentation skills are required for all construction documents and forms. * Ability to read and understand plans and specifications. Qualifications * Knowledgeable in the latest Louisiana Standard Specification for Roads and Bridges. * Must have above-average geometry and basic math calculation skills. * Proficiency in inspection tools and software (e.g., SiteManager, Headlight and/or MS Office). * Proficient in the use of computers and iPads. * Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations * Must have a current driver’s license with a safe driving record. * Excellent verbal communication and report-writing skills * Good interpersonal communication skills, commitment to deadlines, and positive team attitude. * Willingness to learn and adapt to the fast-paced transportation industry. * Must be a U.S. citizen or Legal Resident. (At this time, we cannot support sponsorship, i.e. H-1B or TN Visas for this position.) Education and Experience Requirements * HS diploma or GED is required. * Associate degree in an engineering field preferred. * Minimum 5 years of experience in LA DOTD QC/Inspection work desired. * Nuclear gauge certification is required. * Experience inspecting roadway paving (asphalt and concrete), roadway soil testing, earth work, and grading inspection preferred. * Experience in bridge work inspection (pile driving, drilled shaft, etc.), beams. and bridge deck construction is preferred. * LADOTD Certifications in any of the following is preferred: Embankment and Base Course PCC Paving, Asphalt Concrete Mixture (ACM) Paving, Structural Concrete, and Traffic Control Tech/Traffic Control Supervisor and Flagger Safety Requirement For positions involving field work, completion of OSHA 10 certification is required as a condition of employment. New hires without current certification must complete the training within two (2) weeks of hire. ICE will provide the training and cover associated costs.   Physical Demands The role involves moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds. It is essential for employees to navigate construction sites skillfully and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures.   Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods. Employees must be capable of working in varied environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and noisy settings, and be able to stand and walk during site visits. Additionally, working on construction projects may involve night work and weekend work depending on the project scope, and may include working in conditions with active traffic. Expected Hours of Work The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily.
