Description
This position is being recruited by Pakistan Single Window (PSW) on behalf of the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA). NAFSA is being established as a strategic national initiative to strengthen Pakistan’s agri-trade ecosystem through enhanced regulatory oversight, facilitation, and modernization of food safety and trade processes. The selected candidate will be part of NAFSA’s foundational team, contributing to the development of systems, processes, and institutional capabilities. Responsibilities: Conduct phytosanitary inspection of plants, plant products, and regulated articles at points of entry/exit in accordance with notified laws and SOPs. Collect official samples (plants, plant products, pests, and related material) for diagnostic analysis, ensuring prescribed procedures, chain of custody, and documentation. Inspect export consignments to verify compliance with importing-country phytosanitary requirements and consignment eligibility prior to certification. Supervise and verify phytosanitary treatments (fumigation, heat, cold, and other approved measures) and confirm treatment parameters and safety compliance. Inspect and monitor approved facilities and service providers (packhouses, warehouses, treatment facilities, quarantine stations, yards, conveyances) for compliance. Implement prescribed phytosanitary measures on non-compliant consignments (detention, treatment, re-export, destruction) as authorized. Detect, record, and report pest interceptions, non-compliance, suspected fraud, or biosecurity risks and prepare official inspection/treatment reports. Coordinate with Customs and other border agencies during inspection and clearance processes. Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the reporting officer in support of NAFSA’s mandate. Education B.Sc. (Hons.) (Minimum sixteen years of education) in Agriculture with specialization in Entomology, Plant Protection, Plant Pathology, Weed Science or related field. Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in plant quarantine, plant protection, inspection, or related field operations (fresh candidates with strong practical exposure may be considered). Knowledge of sampling, inspection procedures, and basic phytosanitary requirements. Ability to work in field/shift environments and maintain high integrity. Responsibilities
