The Install Technician plays a key role in supporting our field operations by ensuring the safe and efficient installation of roadside safety systems, including signage, barriers, and crash attenuators. This position is also responsible for the delivery, setup, and retrieval of various traffic control rental equipment. As part of the operations team, the Install Technician contributes to delivering high-quality service, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring project success across all sites.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in construction, installation, or related field.
  • Valid BC driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and out-of-town travel as needed.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • BC Site Ready or equivalent certification is considered an asset.
  • Safety Awareness: Prioritizes safety for self and others; actively contributes to a safe work environment.
  • Ensures Accountability: Holding self and others accountable to meet commitments.
  • Situational Adaptability: Adapting approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations.
Responsibilities

Installation and Field Operations:

  • Install signs, barriers, crash attenuators, and other roadside safety systems in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
  • Set up and service trailer-mounted traffic equipment such as message boards, traffic lights, and arrow boards.
  • Assist with the assembly, disassembly, and transport of traffic control devices and rental equipment.
  • Support field crews by ensuring all required installation tools and equipment are available on site.

Fleet & Equipment Handling:

  • Load and unload trucks with required materials for each project or job site.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance and cleaning on fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure that all tools and materials are properly secured and safely transported.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of company vehicles and report any issues promptly.

Documentation and Communication:

  • Accurately complete all required paperwork, including delivery forms, work logs, and installation documentation.
  • Submit documentation to Project Coordinators or supervisors in a timely manner to ensure project tracking and billing accuracy.
  • Communicate effectively with project team members and supervisors to ensure smooth execution of daily tasks.

Health & Safety Compliance:

  • Follow all company safety protocols and procedures while on site and during transport.
  • Direct motorists and pedestrian traffic when necessary, to protect both road users and work crews.
  • Maintain awareness of site-specific hazards and report safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Actively participate in toolbox talks, on-site safety meetings, and hazard assessments.

Site and Yard Organization:

  • Keep trucks, tools, and yard space organized and free from hazards.
  • Ensure returned rental equipment is properly cleaned and stored after use.
  • Help maintain inventory control by reporting damaged or missing items to the Fleet Coordinator or Supervisor.

Team Collaboration:

  • Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor with clients, contractors, the public, and fellow employees.
  • Provide support to other team members during installations, emergency call-outs, or high-volume periods.

Training and Onboarding:

  • Support training and onboarding of new crew members, when requested.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by supervisors or management based on business needs.
