QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in field installation and shop fabrication of custom millwork, cabinetry, store fixtures or commercial joinery.
  • Demonstrated ability to both lead crews and perform hands-on installation tasks (casework, built-ins, countertops, architectural millwork and FF&E).
  • Experience supervising and coordinating subcontracted labour, including task assignment, performance oversight and time
  • Custom Millwork and Cabinetry experience is required

Responsibilities
  • Lead assigned project-specific installations from site mobilization through final turnover perform hands-on installation and finishing tasks as required.
  • Supervise, coordinate and direct external labour crews (subcontracted workers): assign daily tasks, conduct safety briefings, and monitor quality and productivity.
  • Review and approve shop-fabricated items prior to shipment: verify dimensions, hardware, finishes, BOM completeness, fit-checks, packaging and protection; document required rework.
  • Confirm and document site conditions on arrival: verify dimensions, blocking/inserts/anchors, utilities and substrate conditions; notify Project Management of discrepancies.
  • Execute and oversee field layout, anchoring, fastening, shimming, sealing, routing and final alignments to meet specified tolerances and finish standards.
  • Troubleshoot on-site conflicts (dimensional variances, unforeseen conditions, fit or finish issues); develop corrective plans with shop and Project Management; initiate RFIs or change order recommendations as required.
  • Produce and submit detailed daily site reports including narrative of work completed, crew list, labour hours, materials used, key photos, safety observations and open items.
  • Track, verify and submit hours for all labour under your supervision (internal and external); maintain labour logs for payroll, job costing and productivity review.
  • Coordinate site logistics and sequencing: deliveries, staging, protection of installed work, rigging/crane lifts, equipment rentals and on-site storage.
  • Communicate proactively with General Contractor, other trades, on-site clients and RFP Project Managers to coordinate access, resolve conflicts and protect schedule.
  • Conduct pre-handover inspections, generate and manage punch lists, and ensure timely completion of close-out documentation and warranty handover.
  • Maintain site housekeeping, protect finished surfaces and enforce jobsite safety and quality standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts: provide feedback to Production and Project Management on recurring field issues, install efficiencies and design for manufacture/assembly (DFMA) opportunities.
