Description
Core Responsibilities  * Perform site preparation including layout marking, traffic control setup, and cleanup.    * Assist with cutting pavement slots and preparing sensor layouts.  * Install sensor wire and apply sealant under supervision.  * Perform basic electrical tests (continuity, resistance) with guidance.  * Document work performed. Maintain tools and organize materials.  * Support troubleshooting by identifying visible damage or simple faults.  * Follow all jobsite safety protocols, including PPE, traffic control, and equipment operation.    * Maintain clean, organized work areas and ensure safe operation of cutting and drilling equipment.    Required Skills  * Basic understanding of hand tools and construction practices.  * Willingness to learn electrical concepts and traffic sensor theory.  * Ability to follow detailed instructions and work safely.  * Comfortable working outdoors and performing physical labor.  * Available to travel with crew throughout Alberta.  * The ability to communicate with project managers, traffic control technicians, and construction crews.  Experience  * 0–2 years in construction, electrical, traffic, or related fields.  * Prior Traffic Sensor installation experience is helpful but not required.  Nice to Have  * Some experience installing or servicing inductive loops or related detection systems.  * Some experience leading crews or managing field operations.  * Some experience with Weigh-In-Motion sensors (piezo, quartz, MSI BL).  Growth Path  * Progression toward independent Traffic Sensor installation, testing, and troubleshooting.  * Opportunity to train toward Weigh-In-Motion specific skills.  Physical Requirements  * Ability to lift 50+ lbs.  * Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and operate concrete saws for extended periods.  * Comfortable working near active roadways with proper safety controls.
