ABOUT US

We are one of the world’s leading research centres for the study of prions and their wider relevance to neurodegenerative disease with a growing research activity in Alzheimer’s disease (www.prion.ucl.ac.uk). The Institute is highly multidisciplinary with close integration of structural and molecular biology, genetics, cellular and animal models, small molecule and immuno-therapeutics and clinical research. MRC and UCL have jointly invested £30 million in provision of a dedicated building in central London for the Institute supporting the vision to expand research in protein misfolding and aggregation in neurodegenerative disease.
The Institute is headed by Professor John Collinge FRS, and comprises MRC core funded, UCL Core funded and external grant funded clinicians, scientists, research/technical staff and professional services staff. The Institute has circa 90 staff located on two sites.

ABOUT YOU

Candidates will be exceptional Operations Managers with a focus on delivering service excellence across all aspects of the role and to all those the role supports. This is a pivotal appointment with responsibility for the efficient running of all aspects of the Institute’s operational support services. This includes finance, IT, HR and scientific support services including Biological and Histology Services, Health & Safety, Tissue Management, laboratory, buildings and space management collectively Professional Services.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Institute is looking to make a key leadership appointment for this world renowned research Centre. As Institute Manager for the Institute of Prion Diseases you will work closely with and report to the Institute Director providing exceptional service delivery to all academic and research staff; enabling and adding value to the activities that are core to the Institute.
This key appointment will work closely with the Institute Director and has close working relationships with the Faculty of Brain Sciences Operations Director and other parts of UCL Central Professional Services including finance, HR and Estates.
An acceptable DBS check is required to carry out this role.
This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.
This role is an open-ended contract with a funding end date of 31st March 2028.
