It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work Salary Range: $41,655 - $72,897 Reporting to the Correctional Associate Warden for Programs, this position is responsible for the supervision of classification services at a facility housing up to 700 offenders. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - Serving as chairperson of the Facility Classification Committee, supervisor of offender job and program assignments, supervisor of transfer operations, and supervisor of the records office. - Training institution staff on classification issues. - Coordination of and presentations for the Directors Classification Committee hearings. - Assigning Case Managers to offenders and periodic audits of the facility’s Case Management operations. - Providing supervision of the classification process regarding custody and control status reviews. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Experience with Prisons’ policies and procedures, offender classification process, and correctional programs. Experience interpreting policies, procedures, and laws pertaining to the offender classification system. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC10. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.
