Our client is a global fund manager looking to further build its Sydney based business development and sales team by hiring a mid-level BDM to help grow their Institutional Client base
This role will work directly with the Head of Institutional sales, and will focus on coverage of institutional clients such as superannuation funds, asset managers, private banks, and asset consultants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • 4 years or more Asset management industry work experience required – Sales Support, BDM, RM etc
  • Practical knowledge of ETFs and general market structure.
  • Ability to make decisions and act quickly in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience using specialized financial software, such as Morningstar Direct.
  • Experience developing Excel models and using other Office applications.
Responsibilities
  • Excellent client sales capability and relationship management capability.
  • Excellent understanding of the investment process for actively managed funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and the on-going management of underlying assets.
  • Understanding of various asset classes from equities, fixed income, and alternative assets.
  • Understanding of plain-vanilla product structures and complex product structures that use derivatives.
  • Ability to carry out effective and measurable sales campaigns.
  • Conduct investment strategy with fund manager selection teams and asset allocation teams.
  • Monitor financial performance of underlying companies the funds invest in (i.e., analysis of investee earnings growth, profit margins, balance sheet information).
  • Monitor and ensure funds perform in line with investment objectives and remain within mandate.
  • Understanding of fund distributions and their components.
  • Liaise with internal colleagues such as the Portfolio Management and Investment Strategy Teams.
  • Understanding of ETF capital markets to promote client education.
