Description

The Instructional Aid Associate Specialist supports the Instructional Aid Specialist 2 and Lab Manager in the development, maintenance, and setup of instructional technology and laboratory equipment for physics courses in the Department of Physics. This role is essential to preparing and setting up labs and classroom demonstrations for introductory courses that serve approximately 7,000 students and support more than 50 faculty members each year.
As part of a collaborative team, the specialist assists with equipment setup, troubleshooting, faculty support, and the design and construction of custom lab hardware, including 3D printing and rapid-turnaround machining. The position also maintains and assesses instructional equipment, manages inventory and repairs, and provides technical assistance to faculty and graduate teaching associates. They contribute to the continued improvement of lab instruction by assisting in the investigation and development of evidence-based instructional approaches and supporting departmental outreach events such as the Ohio State Fair.
The role may require flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on course schedules and event needs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Bachelor’s level degree with a major in physics or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary Range: $20.02-$26.33
