JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title: Instructional Aide Employment Classification: Full-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt, Classified (10.5 months) Reports to: Student Services Coordinator Position Summary: The Instructional Aide will serve as additional support for the Student Services Coordinator. The Instructional Aide will collaborate with teachers and specialists to assess and support students academically. The Instructional Aide will enforce safe behaviors and enhance social growth of all students. Requirements Major Areas of Responsibility: Support students within the general education classroom, and in small groups or 1:1 sessions outside of the general education classroom. Will support in the implementation of lesson plans, prepare instructional support materials for small groups and support, guide small groups, and provide learning assistance and individualized support to students in Special Education and with 504 support plans. Will develop appropriate accommodations or support in the development of accommodations for general education assignments and assessments. Will work 1:1 with students depending on their individualized needs. Will support providing direct input and progress monitoring to support IEP planning and development. Instructional Aides will document the progress of students, track service minutes provided, implement grade checks with focus groups and support with student and family communication. Perform clerical duties such as, preparing necessary materials, operating office equipment, making and answering phone calls as necessary and keeping to a schedule. Additional duties as assigned by direct supervisor Knowledge and Skills: Associate’s degree or 48 units of college required. 2 years of experience working in a similar position preferred. Bi-lingual/bi-literate English/Spanish preferred. Knowledge of basic subjects taught in schools including arithmetic, reading, and writing. Knowledge of general needs and behavior of children with disabilities. Experience working with students. Basic first aid principles. Basic record-keeping and organization techniques. Experience collaborating and working with a team. Possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance. Pre-employment screenings include criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test, drug screen, and previous employment verification. Position may require use of personal vehicle. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending, and lifting up to approximately 50 lbs.
