They are responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms by modeling effective teaching practices, co-planning, co-teaching, and offering constructive feedback to teachers.
With a passion for education, culturally responsive pedagogy, and leadership, instructional coaches demonstrate a commitment to driving positive change and supporting teachers in delivering the best possible education for students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the instructional growth of all teachers by deepening their understanding of the Common Core State Standards, ITAVLA’s curriculum, and rigorous, culturally responsive instruction.

  • Support teachers in aligning classroom instruction with ITAVLA’s core values and academic vision.
  • Lead collaborative planning sessions that promote student engagement, rigor, and instructional coherence.
  • Guide teachers in using assessment tools like iReady, DRA, and internal benchmarks to inform instruction.
  • Facilitate data meetings to identify trends, address gaps, and set actionable instructional goals.
  • Conduct coaching cycles that include planning, classroom observations, debriefs, and reflection.
  • Offer actionable, non-evaluative feedback to support professional growth and student outcomes.
  • Design and lead professional development sessions aligned with school-wide priorities.
  • Build and support grade-level and content-area learning communities.
  • Maintain accurate coaching logs, notes, and documentation of teacher progress.
  • Collaborate with school leaders to improve systems and structures that elevate teaching and learning.
