GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB The Training Specialist plays a pivotal role in shaping the skills and knowledge of our workforce. The Training Specialist provides key support for developing, implementing, and improving training programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Conducts need assessments to identify skill gaps and learning requirements through collaboration with managers and subject matter experts. • Creates training curriculum, modules, and content that may include instructional materials, such as presentations, handouts, e-learning courses, workshops, and other forms of training. • Evaluates program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback to make recommendations for improvement. • Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of onboarding, orientation, and skills training. • Utilizes learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms to deliver and track training content. • Facilitates training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussions, lectures, simulations, and videos, both in person and virtually. • Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements. • Tracks and maintains new hire training requirements and ensures timely completion. • Provides recommendations for training requirements for job descriptions/postings. • Ensures that training programs adhere to industry regulations and compliance standards. • Stays updated on the latest trends and best practices in learning and development of innovative ideas. • Develops and maintains relationships with external vendors to deliver specialized training programs. • Ability to travel as needed, with overnight stays. • Performs other related duties as required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Training and Development, Organizational Development or a related field required. • Minimum two years' experience of curriculum design and facilitation required. • Experience building organizational training infrastructure preferred. • Experience working within or alongside a Human Resource team preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. • Ability to clearly present/communicate information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpret data such as training metrics and results. • Capacity to solve practical problems and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. • Ability to interpret and act upon a variety of written, oral, and visual instructions. OTHER SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and independently build programs and materials from concept to completion. • Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies. • Exceptional presentation, facilitation, collaboration and communication skills across all organizational levels. • Ability to self-direct day-to-day tasks within specified timeframes. • Proficiency with multimedia training tools, e-learning, and learning management systems (LMS) required. • Keen eye for detail and quality. • Exhibits a high level of integrity and accountability. • Professional appearance and demeanor. • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills. • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.
