REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (AS EVIDENCED BY AN ATTACHED RESUME):

Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time experience working in education. Experience using AI technologies, technologies with AI components, and their applications in education (e.g., generative AI, natural language processing, machine learning concepts). Comfortable with prompt engineering, AI tool exploration, and integration into pedagogy. Ability to evaluate AI tools for educational use, accessibility, bias, and ethics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Advanced Degree (or foreign equivalent). At least three (3) years of experience working in education. Experience teaching at the university level. Familiarity with various learning management systems (LMS) and educational technologies. Experience in developing and delivering professional development programs for faculty. Ability to conduct research and disseminate findings. Experience in developing chatbots for educational purposes.

Responsibilities

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

The AI Teaching and Learning Specialist plays a pivotal role in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and pedagogies into the university’s teaching and learning landscape. Housed within the Center for Teaching and Learning (CELT), this specialist will collaborate with faculty, instructors, and departments across all disciplines to explore, develop, and implement innovative, effective, and ethical uses of AI to enhance student learning outcomes and instructional practices. This position will serve as a key resource for faculty development related to AI, promoting best practices, fostering experimentation, and addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by AI in higher education.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in local, state, regional and national professional associations, conferences and committees as appropriate. In performance of these job duties, at all times be responsible for delivering optimal customer service, for protecting institutional data and privacy, and the excellent delivery of solutions and services by following divisional and University policies, procedures, and processes.
