About the role We are seeking a Instructional Designer to work closely with our Senior Manager of Curriculum Product and Content Development team to develop learning and practicing experiences for students. In this role, you will be an integral part of the curriculum product instructional design authoring process. You will ensure that educational products meet Flatiron School’s technical curriculum framework and that the informational content is aligned with applied learning and assessments. Please note that this is a part-time (up to 29 hours per week) and fixed-term opportunity. The expected duration is 16 weeks. What you'll do Authoring 3-4 modules per week. 1 course every 2.5 weeks. Integrate instructional design best practices in content authoring processes for technical courses. Develop content in accordance with accessibility standards, WCAG AA. Integrate backwards design methodology into the curriculum authoring process, considering applied learning and assessments to measure the effectiveness of technical modular courses. Design learning content within a templated structure that reflects an understanding of the diversity of career-changing adult learners, including the demonstrated knowledge of cognitive and/or cultural differences that may apply. Integrate adult learning theory and cognitive load theory to develop interactive content pages into practical, application-based learning strategies. Edit generated learning content to proofread and edit learning materials (e.g., learning modules documentation) for clarity, grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors. Qualifications 3+ years of instructional design experience. Strong Canvas LMS experience. Expert Level Cidi Labs DesignPLUS new sidebar update experience. Experience as a copy editor Excellent project management and organizational skills. Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication and collaboration skills Nice to Have: experience in a technical discipline - software engineering, product design, cybersecurity, or data science. Requirement You will need to provide evidence of your work product, specifically authoring courses using CidiLabs within Canvas, this can be a screen-share video, screen-shot images in a shared document, screen share within a synchronous meeting, or public course link. The course items should include different content module pages, assignments, quizzes, and discussions.
