POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Instructional Designer
REPORTS TO: Director of Learning and Development
FLSA: Exempt, Salary
COMPENSATION: $65,000 - $75,000 annually

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or a related field.
• Deep understanding of adult learning theory, instructional design best practices, and performance-based learning strategies
• Proven ability to design mobile-first, engaging learning experiences across a variety of modalities (e.g., microlearning, video, on-demand, cohort-based)
• Strong needs assessment skills, with the ability to identify skill gaps, analyze performance challenges, and recommend targeted learning solutions that drive results.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative mindset and the ability to partner effectively across cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Rise, Storyline, Canva, or Camtasia (Opus experience a plus)
• Excellent organization and project management skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
• Demonstrated ability to assess training effectiveness using learner feedback, knowledge checks, and performance data to drive continuous improvement.
• Familiarity with learning management systems and content maintenance best practices
• Comfortable using collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Miro, and project management platforms like Asana or Smartsheet
• Curiosity and openness to emerging technologies, with familiarity using generative AI and learning analytics tools to accelerate content creation and measure impact.
• Experience in high-energy, service-driven industries like fitness, retail, or hospitality preferred.
• Passion for people development, growth mindset, and alignment with VASA’s mission to uplift others.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

• Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
• Physical Strength: Non-Sedentary work, standing and walking most of the time. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with a variety of variables under limited standardization. Able to interpret various instructions and relay instructions to clients.
• Attendance is an essential duty of the position. Employees must work regularly scheduled shifts, during business hours to assist members and sell services in-person.

PURPOSE

As an Instructional Designer at VASA, you’ll bring learning to life. You’ll design onboarding and continuous education learning initiatives across VASA Fitness to develop employees’ skills and drive business results. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to design high-impact, and mobile-friendly learning solutions aligning with VASA’s strategic objectives and values.
This position will play a key role in supporting organizational change, developing future leaders, and fostering a high-performance culture across a geographically distributed workforce.
