Job Summary At the direction of the principal and in collaboration with the Department of MTSS, the role of the Instructional Specialist is to provide and facilitate skills-based literacy and/or math interventions and other academic supports for students in compliance with the TN RTI2 framework and implemented through the MNPS Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework. The Instructional Specialist collaborates regularly with other educators to utilize data-based decision-making to meet the needs of individual students. What you will do * INSTRUCTION: Provides targeted skills-based literacy and/or math intervention to individuals and small groups of students using district-approved intervention curriculum and resources; Collaborates regularly with classroom teachers and other appropriate personnel to plan, implement, and adjust instruction along a continuum of increasing intensity based on student needs as identified through multiple sources of data, including ongoing assessment. * ASSESSMENT: Serves on (and may lead) the School-wide Assessment Team to implement all steps of the MTSS Screening Process; Conducts regular progress monitoring in compliance with the state RTI2 framework and MNPS MTSS guidance and procedures; Conducts ongoing formative assessment for instruction * DATA-BASED DECISION-MAKING: Participates in (and may co-facilitate) all MTSS Data Team meetings and other MTSS team meetings (MTSS Leadership Team, MTSS-B Team, S-Team) as needed; Collaborates with school and district staff to analyze and integrate multiple sources of data across the areas of literacy, math, SEL/behavior, and attendance to meet the needs of each learner. * DATA COLLECTION & DOCUMENTATION: Collaborates with other school personnel to fulfill the requirements of the state RTII framework and the dyslexia law through the implementation of systems and processes for documentation (e.g. use of the RTI module in Infinite Campus), reporting (e.g., state reporting for dyslexia) , and communication with families (e.g., intervention placement and progress letters); Contributes to collaborative data-based decision-making through the maintenance and sharing of accurate and up-to-date records of students’ services and progress * PROFESSSIONAL LEARNING: Attends regular, district-provided professional development sessions throughout the school year.
