BETHUNE COOKMAN UNIVERSITY   Job Title: Instructor/Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice  College of Arts and Humanities/School of Liberal Arts Department: Criminal Justice   JOB SUMMARY: The Department of Justice and Political Studies at Bethune‐Cookman University invites applications for a full‐time, tenure‐track position as Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice in the undergraduate/graduate program. The area of specialization is open, although applicants must be able and willing to teach research methods (quantitative and qualitative), introductory criminal justice courses, and upper‐level courses to serve the needs of the department. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferable: research methods, law enforcement, and juvenile justice. The capacity to teach graduate courses is also preferred.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: ● Excellence in teaching and service is required (Evidence of an active research agenda is also required. ● The successful candidate will teach four courses each semester. ● Online teaching and graduate teaching experience are a plus, but are not required.   EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: ● Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or Criminology is preferred, but ABD in those areas will be considered. ● Expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferable: research methods, law enforcement, forensics, and juvenile justice.   ENVIRONMENTAL/PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: ● Working environment is a normal business office setting. ● Demands normal manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity. ● Must be mobile throughout the campus. ● Typically, the incumbent may sit comfortably to do the work. Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester in the undergraduate and graduate criminal justice programs. Additionally, they are expected to maintain an active research agenda and provide service to the department and university.
