REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related Technology diploma
  • Significant and relevant work experience in the environmental or civil sectors
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to teach on campus and remotely
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
  • Experience building a respectful culture that promotes equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Experience working with diverse individuals, including newcomers, international, Indigenous, 2SLGBTQIA* and neurodiverse people
  • Commitment to lifelong learning
  • Technical knowledge in at least two of the following subjects: hydrology, water and wastewater systems, fluid mechanics, and waste management systems

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience developing curriculum and instructing at a post-secondary level
  • Certificate in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education
  • Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver blended (synchronous and asynchronous) instruction
Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chair, Civil Engineering Technology - Infrastructure, Red River College Polytechnic is looking for a term Instructor for the Civil Engineering Technology Program. Responsibilities include classroom instruction, supervision and guidance of students, student evaluation, advising of students, maintenance of student records and other professional duties related to instruction. Subject areas include water systems, fluid mechanics, and waste-related topics. The incumbent is also required to participate in department and College committees and assist in student orientation and graduation activities.
