Kingsborough Community College is seeking an English as a Second Language instructor to teach courses in the Continuing Education Division. This is a contract assignment with a part-time schedule. Must be available during weekday daytime hours.
Instructor will teach English to non-native speaking adults, developing and delivering engaging lessons focused on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills to meet personal, academic, and professional goals. Key responsibilities include creating a positive learning environment, adapting curriculum to meet diverse student needs, assessing progress, maintaining accurate records, maintaining communication with supervisors and helping students connect to college resources.
Wage: $50.00/hr.
Location: To be determined. Instructor may be assigned to KCC campus, an off-site location, or both.
Schedule: To be determined. Weekday daytime hours anticipated.

REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in teaching and/or training.
• Experience with in-person instruction.
• Experience with online instruction via Zoom, Google Classroom, MS Teams or Moodle.
• TESOL or ESL certification and a relevant bachelors degree or higher. Certifications and extensive experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Experience with and passionate about teaching diverse populations, adult learners, young adults, or non-native English speakers interested in advancing their skills.
• Previous teaching experience in a college or Adult Education Program.

• Plan, develop, and deliver engaging ESL lessons using appropriate teaching methods for adult learners, focusing on all aspects of communication.
• Adapt lessons or curricula to meet diverse needs, learning styles, and goals of students.
• For contextualized programs, collaborate with vocational faculty to tailor ESL lessons to vocational training preparedness.
• Administer student notices, assessment mechanisms and exercise classroom management techniques to provide an engaging classroom experience for students.
• Ensure that instructional materials are prepared and ready for student use with sufficient quantity.
• Record and submit daily attendance, final grades and other data or documents as required.
• Attend Department or Instructor meetings as required
• Maintain communication with supervisor(s) as necessary.
• Adhere to all employee, instructor, curricula, CUNY, New York City and New York State protocols, policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
