Description:

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of a degree or diploma in Geomatics or Survey Engineering or surveying/mapping from a recognized college/university with a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience
  • Extensive field survey experience
  • Eligibility for registration with ALSA (Alberta Land Surveyors Association) and/or ASSMT (Alberta Society of Survey and Mapping Technologies)
  • Broad survey calculation experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Preferred

  • Proficiency in the use of Leica Cyclone, ArcGIS
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems such as Desire to Learn

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Proficiency in the use of Total Station and GNSS technology, MicroSurvey CAD, and Leica Infinity
  • Proficiency in the use of Leica Geo Office, AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Be self-directed and capable of managing multiple deadlines through the use of organizational, time and priority management skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English
  • Working knowledge of common business software such as Microsoft Office

Responsibilities:

  • Know, understand, apply and relate to learners the essential facts, concepts, procedures and principles in areas of expertise designated by the curriculum, using a variety of instructional techniques which promote learning and personal development
  • Create teaching and learning plans, course outlines, course maps, course content and assessments
  • Monitor and evaluate learner progress
  • Support SAIT, department, and program initiatives and activities intended to engage and recognize learners
  • Inform learners of available resources and support within the SAIT community
  • Promote SAIT and the GNT program
  • Liaise between the GNT program faculty, learners and industry
  • Actively seek opportunities to integrate learners with industry
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, issues and opportunities
  • Participate in program design and annual reviews
  • Seek learner feedback and make appropriate adjustments
  • Use Teaching Excellence metrics to maintain quality and improve classroom instruction
  • Effectively use available time in classes and labs
  • Maintain appropriate office hours and be available for learner consultation
  • Be a positive and active participant on teams while building positive working relationships through effective communication
