POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Health, Sport, and Human Physiology (HSHP) at The University of Iowa invites applications for two Instructor positions in the Health and Physical Activity Skills (HPAS) program. Duties of this positions include teaching a variety of wellness courses and teaching specific skills for enhancing health and well-being (examples include intro to health and wellness, stress management, basic first aid and CPR, intuitive eating); developing and revising curriculum for Health and Physical Activity Skills (HPAS) courses, and potentially developing new HPAS courses. Existing courses in the HPAS program include:

  • HPAS:1001 – Alcohol and Your College Experience
  • HPAS:1002 – Vaping and Tobacco Use in Your College Experience
  • HPAS:1004 – Food and Your College Experience
  • HPAS:1006 – Intuitive Eating
  • HPAS:1008 – Basic First Aid and CPR
  • HPAS:1150 – Introduction to Health and Wellness
  • HPAS:1210 – Stress Management

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

  • Minimum of a BA/BS degree in Health Promotion, Health and Human Physiology, or related field.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Instructional experience in wellness practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent time management and organizational skills.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in a related area, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, certifications, and work experience.
  • Higher education teaching experience in wellness and health practices, including online teaching.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain before the start of classes.
